What Does a Cleanser Do?

The fact is, many people, you may or may not be one of them, but many people don't understand why it's important to do so many different things, while attempting to have healthy, and beautiful looking skin.

This leads me to my post question, "What does a cleanser do for your skin?"

Feel free to also check out my other post, "What does a Toner do for your skin?"

When it comes to the bread and butter of things, the answer is quite simple.

"A cleanser removes dead skin cells and prepares your skin for the application of a toner, and then a repairing lotion, or a moisturizer after the toner." - AcneTeen.Org

Other sites and other people seem to agree. If you head over to Acne.Org, you'll see this quote by member, Kinney. "Dirt doesn't cause acne, so exfoliating washes etc are no use. The only point of using a cleanser/wash is to prepare the skin for the application of BP."

To a certain extent, I agree with him. However, cleansing does also remove dead skin cells, which can clog pores, and cause acne. And since benzoyl peroxide, or B.P. is a drying agent, it's important to cleanse when you wake up, and before you go to bed, to avoid clogging your pores.

Acne is definitely more of an internal situation. However, if you let it be, acne can also be caused externally as well, which is why it's important to use a cleanser at least twice a day.
