I was looking at one of my favorite acne sites, acne.org, and I saw this huge thread about lycopene and whether or not it helps in clearing up pimples, zits, blackheads, and other nasty things.

People really began digging into this topic, and found that eating tomatoes, which contains a large amount of lycopene, will actually help your acne. I continued to look at other sites for answers, and found that tomatoes can even be applied topically to improve one's complexion.

I continued to try to find a little more information regarding the Lycopene and acne connection, but nothing. Basically, everything comes back to foods that are listed with high lycopene levels.

Even though it's said to help improve your complexion, there aren't any studies that I could find, anyway, that stated that an increased amounf of lycopene will help an individual improve or get rid of their acne altogether.

Feel free to leave your opinions below. Let me know what you think. But for now, really, this case will go unsolved. If you do find more information, please let me know by leaving a comment below.

I think lycopene reduces the amount of insulin-like growth factor in the blood, which is responsible for the overproduction of skin in the pores.
