I've been getting a little sloppy with my organization, so I wanted to take the time to create a guide to Proactiv. We'll call it the "Proactiv, Common Questions and Answers Guide."
This will basically be Acne Teen's Mini Resource Center for Proactiv Solutions.
This guide is going to cover the most common and some of the most uncommon questions that people have. Also, a link to a comprehensive review of Proactiv will be posted.
In the end, I am hoping that Acne Teen subscribers, and those individuals viewing this site for the first time, will have all of their Proactiv questions answered.

IT MAKING MY SKIN WORSE?! before proactive i didnt really break out much but i been using proactive for a week now nd i been breaking out even more now? why isnt it suppose to be working not making it worst. i called da customer service nd they said that its normal Because it gets rid of the stuff hiding under your skin and brings it to surface to jus give it time but if its not working why should i wait to break out even more? i dont even wanna go out lookin like this im soo embarassed. did this happen to you too before it got better?? should i even keep using it?
Proactiv will make your acne worse, before it makes it better. But when it gets better, you'll have amazing skin. :) The patience is all well worth the wait.

I've noticed small breakouts along the end of my hair on my forehead. Should I get a haircut or will Proactiv control this? I am on week three of my treatment.
Proactiv will eventually control this. However, getting your haircut will definitely help. :) I have long hair, and little bumps may still form on my forehead. But when I am consistently using Proactiv / Benzoyl Peroxide, I'm clear :)
I've been using Proactiv for almost 4 weeks. I used Oxy face cleanser in the shower for the first 3 weeks but recently I stopped. I experienced big breakouts. Should I stop using Oxy and let my face breakout?
Also, when I stopped using Oxy I stopped taking my multivitamin. Which do you think caused my breakout?
Proactiv is a really really good product. It comes back to knowing how to use it correctly. This is one of the best guides that I have ever come across. Still, I was sad to see that it didn't explain how to use the rest of the Proactiv products. Good guide though. good guide.
I agree with the above comment. This answered a lot of the questions that I had about Proactiv. But still a good guide overall. I still wanted to knwo about proactivs mask and if it really did anything or not. i know proactiv is a good product, but what about thigns other than their main line of products? i may call proactiv support for more information. thanks for your help by they way.

When used correctly, Proactiv can be a really good product. But you really have to follow instructions precisely to avoid problems, such as skin irritation.
Sorry I didn't speak much about Proactiv's other products. I don't use them, so I wouldn't really know how to form an opinion about them.

Proactive bleached my face , towels , and my eyebrows!! I tried it for 3 months so see how it could "help" my skin and to be honest it didn't do anything for me other than bleach everything! I'm going to try Arbonnes clear advantage now and see if that works but honestly anything should be better than rubbing bleach all over your face twice a day!
Proactive will Make You break out more during the first week & probably the second week, But Waiting & continuing to use the product will make you have clearer skin. :) So if you see more breaks out during the first week its Totally normal Im in the breakout stage of my procative right now as well.

Hello. I JUST started using this product and from the videos I have watched, I have really realized that I have been using it COMPLETELY the wrong way. I would just like to know if someone like me, who has had acne since I was in the fifth grade, really become clear in 4 weeks after all of these years?
Finally, my dermatologist has told me to try and clear my pores physically, like popping zits. After searching your site and reading comments, I'm greatly concerned that I will now have SERIOUS SCARS and worry that Proactiv will not get rid of my scars. Please reply and give me some helpful information. :)

I started proactiv 4 days ago..my face is red -_-.. but i see my acne going aways slowly, even though is not clear perfect i see some results. I just hate the fact that my face gets red. I hope this really clears my skin forever!

I used to have amazing skin all till sophomore year in college. I started breaking out horribly, since i wasnt used to having acne i didnt know how to handle it and i basically ruined my skin by popping pimples and leaving scars. Im tired of having acne so i recently decided to purchase proactive. i dont know it seems to be making my acne worse?when will this go away? Also is it ok i apply makeup after the 3rd step (the acne marks on my face look horrible without makeup) or should i stop using makeup completely.
I been on proactiv for 4 weeks now and my skin looks worse. I'm sure I'm using it correctly but no results. I use it in the mornings after a shower and at nights before i go to bed. I also apply a lotion called Nivea for my dry skin. Do u think the lotion is what is effecting my results?
my first two weeks with proactiv was great... my marks are gettin lighter and im not breakinout.. den suddenly on my third week and fourth week up to date now im breakin out horribly like a size of a dime zits.. ugh.. ridiculous. i hope ds still clears me up and it wont be another isotane result for me..
I usually use ProActiv, but I wanted to try something new which was healthier with less chemicals. I read bad reviews of all the harmful chemicals in proactive. My mother who is in her 60's and looks like she is in her 30's, recommended Made from Earth.
I have a bit of adult acne and she recommended the Made from Earth Grapefruit Glycolic Scrub, and it works just as well as ProActiv. I used it for a couple of days, and saw results right away. Overall, my skin looks much better than before I used it. I didnt use any of their moisturizers but I would recommend the Grapefruit Glycolic Scrub.
I only have proactiv step 1 (renewing cleanser), and i am using normal moisturisers, but will that still make difference?

HELP!! I have auditions for a HUGE contest in 2 weeks this Saturday will be my 3rd week useing Proactiv and my acne is going away just a little....but its still there and im getting more pimples but they go away fairly quickly. i've been using proactiv for about 2 years now. if i can remember way back, the first time i used proactiv, ive experienced a lot of breakouts for about two weeks. why? simply because your skin will be adjusting to the product. that's the initial reaction of your skin. it really takes time to clear up your face. but dude, im saying this to you. proactiv never disappointed me. of course for the first few weeks of using the product you will have a lot of breakouts first until it completely clears up your skin. my skin is clear 2 and half months from the first use up to now. the rule here is PATIENCE. got it? goodluck to those people who will use and those who are using the product. cheers up.

I saw one of the videos of you saying that to never wash the 3rd step off, but I put on proactiv at 6 am before school and I have very oily skin so by the time its lunch time around 12 pm I get very oily so when I go home around 2-4 pm I have to wash my face because it feels so dirty. Is that wrong to wash my face like that because I don't think I could just not wash my face after.
You shouldn't wash your face more than 2 times a day. So yes. It would be wrong to wash the 3rd step off. instead, try patting your face with a dry soft towel, to remove oils

Having a face full of acne isnt nice at all and i know all too well how depressing it can be. I started breaking out at about 12, just the random pimple here and there but it wasnt until year 7 when i really struggled with acne.
From there on it only seemed to get worse. It wasnt just a few spots, they were literally all over my face and all i seemed to do was stress out so that didnt help at all! I hated people seeing me like this and there was nothing worse than standing with a group of people with really clear skin. I felt terrible. I was constantly pulling my hair over my face to hide it all but i knew there was just no point.
I started staying home instead of going out with friends and i cant explain how hard that was for me because everyone knew i was a really confident person but my acne completely took over me. Still to this day im really selfconcious about my skin so i do tend to hide away when its at its worst.
I was browsing through youtube just over a week ago and found your video on how to use proactiv solution properly. I was speechless when i saw that for the 3 years ive been using this product i was using it wrong way. But seeing your results bought my confidence back and i really wanted to make proactiv work for me!

Can i use Neutrogena Men Sensitive Skin Oil-Free Moisture SPF 30 in the morning after shower and then following your 3pm and 9 pm proactiv routine? So after the 3rd step in proactiv, can i apply Neutrogena Men Sensitive Skin Oil-Free Moisture SPF 30 bc i am dark colored?
So i ran out of the step 2 of the proactive. Will my acne come back if i were to use step 1 then straight to step 3?
Your acne probably won't come back, because step 2 simply tones your skin. But still, I am not 100% sure on this. Step 3 obviously contains the 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, which is what will help you get rid of your acne, but if I am you, I get that 2nd step asap.

Tyler - Sorry for the huge delay. I have been sick with cat scratch fever for 2 months. I have never had a problem with acne scars. You could try tanning or the skin lightening lotion made by Proactiv.
When can you put the proacti dark spot corrector on?
