Milk and Acne: Yep. It plays a role! Before I say anything, I want to apologize for not writing a post in awhile. School has finally ended, so you can expect new content almost everyday from here on until September. I recently wrote a post about acne and diet, so be sure to check that out also. It will basically sum everything up. Alright, so that's enough rambling from me. What you really want to know is, does milk cause acne?

Does Milk Cause Acne?
To find out more information regarding the topic, I headed over to Health Castle. They published an article titled, "Got Milk? Got Acne?" According to Health Castle, researches from Harvard School of Public health studied Questionnaires completed by more than 47,000 women.
According to the study, people who drank 3+ cups of milk every day were 22% more likely to have acne, compared to those who drank less than a serving of milk a day. The study also noted that people who drank skim milk were even more likely to get acne.
Why does milk cause acne?
Researchers suggest that hormones in cow's milk are likely the reasons for the increase in acne outbreaks. Note that general dairy products are also included on the list for causing outbreaks.
It's also said that Iodine Causes Acne, and milk happens to have a high amount of iodine present.
Should I kick milk products out of my diet?
As you all know, milk is pretty important in most individual's diets as it provides the majority of our calcium, and a good amount of protein. However, there are milk product alternatives.
Here's a good list of milk alternatives:
- Soy
- Nut
- Rice
- Hemp
- Oat
Overall, I wouldn't recommend kicking milk out of your diet, unless you're trying to get rid of your acne naturally. If that's the case, then you may want to think before you drink. :)
